In recent weeks TaylorMade has launched two new ‘Burner’ drivers and the Z TP Wedge. Now comes a new set of Burner irons.
The Tour Burner irons, which go on sale in the UK next month, feature a thin club face which TaylotMade claim will deliver a high COR for increased ball speed and distance
TaylorMade have also employed the same ‘Inverted Cone’ technology as used in their new Burner drivers.
The technology enlarges the portion of the club face that delivers highest ball speed, so ensuring that off-centre hits don’t lose too much distance.
More weighting on the toe and heel has also increased the MOI for better stability on those occasional, less-than-perfect strikes.
In addition, the new Tour Burner irons also come with a sole that is beveled at the back to make it perform like a much thinner sole and so increase the playability from a variety of lies.
The top-line is classified as ‘medium’ thickness, while the head features moderate amount of offset and a chrome-plated satin-buff finish.
The very busy back portion of the club head features a badge in the cavity that TaylorMade say helps to tune the feel and sound at impact.
The Burner Irons will be available in sets of No 2s to No 9s, either with True Temper steel shafts (105g) or the graphite Burner REAX 65 (65g) shafts in S, R and M flexes.
Both come with Golf Pride’s Tour Velvet grips.
The suggested retail prices of a set of eight Burner Tour Irons (No 2 to 9) is £499 (steel shafts) and £599 (graphite shafts).
Four wedges (PW, 50, 55 and 60) are available to complete the set. but are not included in the prices listed above.
