TMaG TO MARKET GARCIA PUTTER

He didn’t win, but Sergio Garcia’s inspired performance with his new belly putter at the Open at Carnoustie nine days ago has created a strong public demand for it.
The TalorMade-adidas Golf Company (TMaG) created a special version of the Rossa Corzina putter head with a belly-length shaft which Garcia used with much success at Carnoustie – and viewers were so impressed by the result, it created an immediate demand for it among the public.
“Throughout the British Open, the success of Sergio Garcia’s putting with the new Rossa Corzina and its belly putter shaft spawned many phone calls and e-mails to our offices around the world, asking where that model could be purchased,” TMaG Golf executive vice president Sean Toulon said this week in announcing that his company had decided to put a limited edition of 500 of Garcia’s special TaylorMade Rossa Corzina belly putters on the market.
“Sergio used a prototype that was created with custom specifications, but due to the overwhelming demand for that specific Corzina belly putter, we will be able to create a limited quantity with those same specifications to fulfill the wishes of our consumers.”
The putter Sergio used at the Open Championship was built for his father, Victor, by TaylorMade’s tour department.
Sergio tried it at his home in Spain and first put it into play at the Scottish Open, followed by The Open Championship at Carnoustie.
It became a popular subject in his post-round press conferences, and he noted that he had far more confidence in it under pressure than with a standard-length putter.
