The Titleist fairway metals that helped install Robert Karlsson as this year’s Merit Order champion of Europe are now available to the public.
And this in the UK at the suggested retail price of £159.
The clubs in question are the 909F2 and 909F3 Tour-proven fairway metals that follow hard on the heels of Titleist’s impressive range of new drivers, the 909D2, 909D3 and 909Dcomp.
Influenced by input from some of the world’s greatest players, each of the new fairway metals are engineered with their own precisely positioned centre of gravity to produce distinctive launch trajectories and ball flights to suit a range of golfers from the better player down to the aspiring golfer.
Dozens of the games finest players have switched to the 909F fairway metals in recent weeks – most notably Titleist ambassador Robert Karlsson who secured the European Tour order of Merit and then joined fellow Swede Henrik Stenson to win the Mission Hills World Cup
“My equipment has improved my game and the new fairway metals have certainly helped me this year,” said Karlsson, shortly after making the switch to the 909F3s.
He used both the 15- and 18-degree clubs to good effect in winning the Mercedes-Benz and Alfred Dunhill Links Tour events in September and October respectively.
With half a degree higher loft than the 909F3 and a lower centre of gravity, the 909F2 generates a higher launch without increased spin. The longer face profile claims to provide more confidence and forgiveness for players who also prefer a slightly larger head.
In the meantime, the lower loft on the 909F3, combined with a more forward centre of gravity, delivers a lower ball flight, less spin and better shot-shaping, while the smaller and deeper face will be an attraction to those players who prefer a more compact head.
