Tiger’s days of dominance done – poll
Tiger Woods will never again dominate golf as he did before his life was turned upside down by shock revelations of a secret life.
Tiger Woods will never again dominate golf as he did before his life was turned upside down by a string of shock revelations about a secret life of extra-martial sex.
That was the belief of a large number of the 100 leading US golf teachers who were asked by Golf.Com to tell it what they thought of the state of his game following his performance at the weekend’s Chevron World Challenge at Thousand Oaks where he was reeled in by US Open champion Graeme McDowell in the final round and then beaten in the play-off.
The teachers’ poll showed that 15% of them thought he “was back”, 13% felt they “needed more information” before they could accurately answer questions about him, 64% felt he was currently still “a work in progress” as he hones another swing change with his new coach Sean Foley and 8% felt he was “in trouble”.
But perhaps the most surprising upshot of the poll was the large number of teachers who felt that there was little likely hood of his ever dominating golf again like the Colossus he was in the past
Some of the teacher’s comments quoted by Golf.Com include the following:
– “What I liked about the last two holes of the tournament is that Graham did to Tiger what Tiger did to many players – hole long putts at the right moment. Now he (Tiger) knows what that feels like.” – Craig Shankland
– “Tiger is at an ultra critical juncture. The West Coast swing will be the tell of all time.” – Tom Patri, TP Golf Services
– “I am suspicious of the things he is working on in his swing with Sean Foley. I just don’t think he will dominate as he did before.” – Anne Cain
– “This was a hit-and-giggle limited field event and he couldn’t get the job done with a big (four stroke) lead!” – Steve Bosdosh
– “The talent pool is far too deep now for Tiger to reign again.” – Bill Madonna
– “When was the last time Tiger lost a four-shot lead on Sunday by getting outplayed?” – Mike Lopuszynski
– “The dominance he once had in the intimidation department is GONE!!!!” – Mike Malaska
– “His aura now only receives lip service.” – T.J. Tomasi
