The Srixon ball used by Jim Furyk when he finished second to Adam Scott in the Tour Championship on Sunday is a new one set to be launched in Britain in February.
Called the Srixon Z-URC, the ball features a revolutionary new, ultra thin urethane lastometer cover said to be the softest ever put out by the company, but also has a large, highly resilient ‘energetic gradient growth core’, claim the manufacturers,, with a ‘high velocity layer and a 330 high-trajectory dimple pattern’.
“The spin function is greater on approach shots because of the quality and softness of the cover,” Srixon’s Alton-based UK distributors told Golf Magic.com this week.
“It allows more aggression because of the extra control.
“The dimple pattern also provides low spin and a penetrative ball flight, especially in the wind.”
Last year, Srixon Sports recorded 31 top-level international victories worldwide with their balls through golfers of the calibre of Furyk, currently No 2 on the World Ranking table, Tim Clark, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Robert Allenby, Tom Lehman, Brian Davis, Laura Davies and Karrie Webb and this year they have already exceeded that figure
Their new Z-URC will be available from February 1, 2007 at a suggested price of £39.99 per dozen.
