Snubbed by Monty – Sir Nick claim

Nick Faldo claims he was snubbed by Colin Montgomerie during the BMW International Open in Munich.

Nick Faldo claims Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie ignored him during the BMW International Open in Munich after claiming that he was keen to gather the views of all his predecessors.
Faldo, now 52 and a full-time TV commentator in America, was in Munich this week for his first tournament since last year’s Open and suggested a meeting in a letter to current incumbent Montgomerie.
He told the Mail on Sunday: “I didn’t just want to make my views known to him through the media, so I wrote to Monty suggesting we meet up for a chat.
“But I have not had a reply. I don’t think I need say any more than that. It says it all.”
Faldo played in 11 Ryder Cups before captaining Europe in their defeat at Valhalla two years ago.
He played the BMW International Open as a warm-up exercise for what will be his 34th Open – and seventh at St Andrews – next month but failed to make the cut.
However, he admitted earlier this week: “In my job I just sit on my backside and it changes your whole body.
“Your stamina is not the same and mentally it affects things too – you’ve got to hit shots to boost your confidence.”
