Shin out for at least a month

South Korean golfer Jiyai Shin has announced via her agent that she will be out for at least a month due to injury.
South Korean golfer Jiyai Shin has announced via her agent that she will be out for at least a month due to injury.
Shin, an eight-time winner on the LPGA Tour who also reached the No 1 position on the world rankings during 2010, is suffering from a back injury that has grown so severe that it caused her to be hospitalised in Seoul on Monday.
“She is suffering from pain in the back and the right big toe… she has to be treated for three weeks,” the statement from her agent quoted her doctor as saying.
Shin was scheduled to play in the Navistar LPGA Classic in Alabama from September 15-18, but she’s definitely out for that event.
“We will decide whether or not to cancel other tournaments in the future depending on her condition by the end of the week,” a SEMA spokesman told AFP.
Shin said that she has been dealing with the problem since the Canadian Women’s Open back in August.
“It got even worse since I played in a local tournament. I’ll get necessary treatment and will focus on tours for the rest of the year,” she said.
