Adam Scott is set to join Tiger Woods at this year’s Australian Open in Sydney, the organisers announced on Thursday.
The Australian, who, with Kiwi Steve Williams, Woods’ former caddie, on his bag triumphed in the Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio three weeks ago when he closed with a stirring final-round 65, says he is looking forward to his tilt at winning his country’s national championship for a second time, having first won it in 2009.
“To claim the Stonehaven Cup in one of the biggest years of Australian golf would be an unbelievable achievement,” he said.
Other high profile international golfers who have been confirmed for the tournament are the big-hitting Americans, Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson, defending champion Geoff Ogilvy and the fast-rising Australian star and world number eight Jason Day.
The Australian Open, at The Lakes Golf Club from November 10-13, will be staged the week before the President’s Cup at Royal Melbourne.
