Pak claims shortened LPGA event

Se Ri Pak birdied the third play-off hole to win the rain-shortened Bell Micro LPGA Classic on Sunday.
Se Ri Pak birdied the third play-off hole to win the rain-shortened Bell Micro LPGA Classic on Sunday.
The final round started on time despite heavy overnight rain, but further rain meant the round was suspended with the final trio of Pak, Brittany Lincicome and Suzann Pettersen on the fourth hole.
With the course saturated and a poor weather forecast, officials decided to reduce the event to 54 holes and all scores posted in the final round were wiped out.
Pak, Lincicome and Pettersen therefore made the play-off because they shared the overnight lead at 13 under.
Pettersen bowed out after a bogey on the second extra hole, before Pak struck a superb approach to the next from a fairway bunker to set up the winning birdie from 10 feet.
It was Pak’s 25th PGA Tour victory and third on the The Crossings course at Magnolia Grove.
