Jose Maria Olazabal will captain Europe in next year’s Royal Trophy match against Asia in Brunei.
The Spaniard will take charge at the Empire Hotel and Country Club – less than three months after leading Europe in their Ryder Cup defence against the United States in Chicago.
Brunei, the tiny Southeast Asian sultanate, will become the second country to hold the event after Thailand.
The event was first staged in 2006, having been the brain-child of the late five-time major winner Seve Ballesteros.
Next year’s three-day match, which will start on December 14, will be held as a tribute to Ballesteros who died in May aged 54.
The course overlooks the South China Sea. It will be held in tribute to Ballesteros, who died from cancer in May aged 54.
Europe have won four of the five Royal Trophy contests to have been held.
