Anna Nordqvist took the inaugural Mojo 6 Jamaica LPGA Invitational title with a 1-up victory over Amanda Blumenherst in the final at Montego Bay.
Sweden’s Nordqvist took the 350,000 first prize after winning three knockout rounds of six-hole match play on the second and final day of a tournament played under the Raceway format.
Eight of the 16-woman field had qualified from the first day having accumulated points from three six-hole contests at Cinnamon Hill Golf Course, each match winner having been able to choose her next opponent.
Seeded fourth after the first day behind Cristie Kerr of the United States, Korean Na Yeon Choi and American Blumenherst, Nordqvist faced another American in the quarter-finals, beating Christina Kim 2-up.
Nordqvist, winner of last year’s LPGA Championship and LPGA Tour Championship, then knocked Kerr out at the semi-final stage after the contest went to an extra hole.
Blumenherst had beaten compatriot Brittany Lang in her quarter-final, and then got past Choi at the first extra hole of their semi-final.
Choi then lost to Kerr in the third-place play-off.
