Nordqvist leads in Wales

Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist is in the lead after the 1st round of the S4C Wales Ladies Championship of Europe.
Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist carded a six-under-par 66 to lead the way after the first round of the S4C Wales Ladies Championship of Europe in Harlech.
The 22-year-old picked up five birdies and an eagle, dropping just one shot at the third.
“I played really well,” said the Ladies European Tour rookie, who was handed a Solheim Cup wild card by European captain Alison Nicholas on Sunday.
“I really got my putting going today so I am happy with my day.”
South Africa’s Ashleigh Simon and Australian Katherine Hull fired 67s to lie joint second with England’s Laura Davies and Scotland’s Krystle Caithness among a group of seven a shot further back.
