McIlroy leapfrogs Tiger Woods

Rory McIlroy has moved ahead of Tiger Woods into a career-high sixth place on the World Rankings list.
Northern Ireland’s 21-year-old Rory McIlroy has moved ahead of Tiger Woods into a career-high sixth place on the World Rankings list.
In the same week in which Lee Westwood strengthened his hold on the World No 1 crown with his European Tour victory at the Ballantines Championship in Korea, McIlroy and Tiger Woods switched places even though both took the week off from competitive golf.
McIlroy will be back in action on Thursday to defend his Quail Hollow title in the inaurgural Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina, but Woods, it has been reported, will miss the event through an injury that is not considered serious enough to keep him sidelined for long .
In the meantime the big-hitting left-hander Bubba Watson has broken into the top 10 at No 10 on the World Ranking list by beating fellow American Webb Simpson at the second extra hole of a play-off on Sunday at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
