Rory McIlroy can’t be feeling too bad about his Masters meltdown. Not if the picture above means anything.

Posted on his tweet today, the image shows Charl Schwartzel (L), Sunday’s winner of the 75th Masters and the Northern Irishman aboard a private jet bound for Kuala Lumpur where the two celebrated young guns are due to tee off in the European Tour’s Malaysian Open at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club on Thursday..

McIlroy, gracious as always after a defeat – even in this agonising case when you consider how up-beat he must have been when Sunday started and how downbeat he must have felt after his meltdown – McIlroy said: “Flying to Malaysia with Charl! Glad one of us has a green jacket on!!”

On Sunday, McIlroy went on Twitter about an hour after signing for his final-round 80 to give this message to his followers: “Well that wasn’t the plan! Found it tough going today, but you have to lose before you can win. This day will make me stronger in the end.”

He followed that Tweet with another congratulating Schwartzel on his victory and yet another thanking his fans for their support after his nightmare Sunday at Augusta.
