Troy Matteson maintained joint leadership of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Troy Matteson maintained joint leadership of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas after posting a second-round 67 at TPC Summerlin.
Matteson held the overnight lead after a first-round 62, and although his performance dropped off a little, he remains at the top of the order heading into day three.
The 29-year-old was joined on 13 under by Chad Campbell, who closed with an eagle on the ninth to sign for a bogey-free 62.
Matteson’s four-under-par round moved him to 129 for the tournament and maintained his solid displays in Fall Series events.
A winner at TPC Summerlin in 2006, Matteson has had six further top-10 finishes in his last 12 Fall Series events, and is again revelling in the late-season schedule.
“I’ve always liked the fall, maybe it coincides with the start of school every year for me when I was in college,” said Matteson, who recovered well from bogeys on the 11th and 14th to hit four birdies after the turn.
“I wasn’t much of a summer golfer. I didn’t play good in the summer.”
He added that his 2006 victory has boosted his confidence this weekend, saying: “It does give me a lot of confidence to know that when I was hitting it good, what I could get done, and hopefully I could do something similar this week.”
Scotland’s Martin Laird was again the only non-American inside the top 10 and was locked in a four-way tie for third place on 12 under with Ryan Moore, Bob Heintz and Matt Kuchar.
Tom Pernice Jnr, who shared the first-round lead with Matteson and Spencer Levin, shot a 69 to drop to 11 under, alongside Jim Furyk, PGA rookie Rickie Fowler and Scott Piercy.
Levin shot a level-par 71 to stay on nine under for the tournament.
The cut was set at four-under 138 and claimed 73 victims, among them reigning champion Marc Turnesa, Anthony Kim, Rory Sabbatini and Brian Davis.
