Matteo Manassero is set to join world number one Luke Donald and Ian Poulter in the field for the Australian Masters in Melbourne in December, the organisers announced on Monday.

The 18-year-old rising star of Italy, who became the youngest winner in European Tour history when he captured the Castello Masters in October last year, is ranked 30th in the World and will be making his first trip to Australia.

Manassero was just 17 years and 188 days when he won the Castello Masters after which he went on to claim his second European Tour win at this year’s Malaysian Open shortly before his 18th birthday.

He finished in joint 37th place in his first US PGA Championship last week.

The Australian Masters takes place at The Victoria Golf Club from December 15-18.
