Bernhard Langer has been named Champions Tour Player of the Year after five wins, two of them in back-to-back majors.

Bernhard Langer has been named Champions Tour Player of the Year after winning five times in 2010 – amazingly two of those wins coming in back-to-back majors.

The award means that the German golfing icon, a former two-time Masters Champion, has become the first over-50s golfer to win Player of the Year and lead the money list on the Champions Tour for three straight years.

Langer not only had the most wins in a season on the Seniors tour since Craig Stadler won five times in 2004. he also had top 10s in 15 of the 23 Champions Tour tournaments he played in.

Fred Couples, who won three of his first four tournaments on the Tour after he joined it, was named 2010’s Champions Tour rookie of the year, while Ken Green was voted comeback player of the year for returning to competition after losing his left leg in fatal car crash that killed his girlfriend, his brother and his dog..
