Ishikawa makes Japan Tour history

Ryo Ishikawa has become the youngest money title winner in Japan Tour history – even though he didn’t win on Sunday.
Shigeki Maruyama won the Nippon Series JT Cup on Sunday, but it was teenage sensation Ryo Ishikawa who captured the headlines by becoming the youngest money title winner in Japan Tour history.
The 18-year-old’s place at the top of the 2009 money list was confirmed as closest challenger Yuta Ikeda failed to get the win he needed to overtake Ishikawa at the Tokyo Yomiuri Country Club .
Ishikawa finished tied for 19th at the season-ending tournament following a four under 66 while Ikeda closed with a 72 to take a share of 23rd.
Maruyama shot a six-under 64 to finish regulation play at nine-under alongside South Korean Kim Kyung-tae (68) before winning the play-off for his first victory since returning to the Japan Tour.
