Heavy overnight rain has delayed the start of the third day’s play at the Barclays Scottish Open until at least 2pm this afternoon.

Spectators were not being admitted to the course this morning, such was the severity of the downpour which has left parts of the course flooded at the Castle Stuart Golf Links near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands.

The event has already been affected by rain with two stoppages on Friday meaning many players were unable to complete their second rounds.

Tournament officials will make a decision at midday about the possibility of play resuming today.
