Haas four clear in Mississippi

Bill Haas shot a 69 to go into the final round of the Viking Classic four shots clear.
Bill Haas shot a 69 to go into the final round of the US PGA Tour’s Viking Classic in Mississippi four shots clear of the field.
In a see-saw round featuring only six pars, Haas required eight birdies to record his three-under-par total after dropping shots at the first, 10th and 16th and a two more at the short 12th.
Fellow American Michael Allen, Australia’s Nathan Green and Brendon de Jonge of Zimbabwe follow on 11 under with Jason Bohn a further shot back.
Allen, for one, is not allowing Haas’ big lead to take away his ambitions of winning the first of the four fall events that bring to an end the 2010 PGA Tour and give those players on the fringes of Tour exemption in 2011 the chance to solidify their places.
Allen said: “Anything can happen out here.
“If I can make two or three birdies early, kind of get things going, maybe I can put some pressure on him and have a chance to get back in there tomorrow.”
