Procter & Gamble company Gillette has confirmed it will not renew its endorsement deal with Tiger Woods in the new year.

Gillette was using Woods, along with a number of other top athletes, as part of its three-year Gillette Champions marketing programme.

A company spokesperson comfirmed that they are phasing out the program, and that several other athletes will not have their contracts renewed either. However, a number are staying, including baseball star Derek Jeter and tennis ace Roger Federer.

Despite the official announcement now, Gillette had actually stopped using the former world number one in their ads as early as a year ago, when details about his infidelities first became public.
