Getting to grips with wet weather

When playing in wet weather there are two ways you can ensure you maintain a solid grip on your clubs.
When playing in wet weather there are two ways you can ensure you maintain a solid grip on your clubs.
The first, if it’s important to you that you always play with the conventional glove, is to ensure you carry extra gloves, but instead of keeping them in your bag, especially if you carry it yourself, hang them on the metal spokes inside your umbrella.
This will keep them nice and dry until thery are needed.
The second unconventional way is to carry a pair of wicket-keepers’ cotton inners for those occasions you’ll need to play in the rain.
When things get really wet, try replacing your conventional glove with the cotton innners, making sure that before you play your first shot, you have thoroughly dampened the palms of the gloves.
It’s strange but true – the wetter they get, the better the grip.
