The tried and tested method is to take a sandwedge out of your bag, take hold of it below the grip on the metal part of the shaft and then, holding the shaft tightly, hit sharply down on the ball.
If you keep your head down until after striking the ball, you should see it pop out of the long rough and land on the fairway or green!
