FT9 not too different to FT-5

The Callaway FT9 driver, launched at the recent PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida, strongly resembles the FT-5.
The Callaway FT9 driver, launched at the recent PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida, strongly resembles the FT-5 which it replaces.
The head is traditional, black and understated, with all the colour and decoration saved for the sole. but the new black Fujikura ZCom shaft, the club’s serious ‘engine’ is where the big improvement is on this new club.
It is certainly streets ahead of the white shaft that was used in the FTiQ.
The lightweight carbon composite head makes the driver feel lighter and gives you the feeling that you can really develop some clubhead speed.
As you’d expect, the carbon head muffles the sound off the face, which will sound rather odd if you have been used to hitting or hearing titanium drivers being hit
The club has the ability to shape the ball flight without too much difficulty and has a pleasingly powerful trajectory for greater distance and control.
These factors will make it exceptionally popular among the better golfers. but some of those who tested the club in Orlando were not convinced that it had a whole lot more to offer than the FT-5 and wondered whether FT-5 users would go to the trouble and expense of upgrading to it.
The price has yet to be confirmed.
