Bay Hill snub stuns Daly

John Daly is not playing in the Arnold Palmer Invitational this week and he won’t be at next week’s Shell Houston Open either.
Neither of the two tournaments has offered him the sponsor’s invitation he sought and his deep depression over the snubs is showing.
To start with he has ignored Twitter for nearly a week – and that’s highly unusual for one of the Internet phenomenon’s most active sportsmen.
He is also claiming to be stunned and confused at being turned away from Bay Hill and the Redstone golf clubs
“Sorry haven’t been on (Twitter); been depressed – Bay Hill and Houston turned me down for exemption spots during Friday’s round at Transitions,” he wrote.
“Well Bay Hill is missing a big draw like you. Less money in their pockets. Their loss, not yours,” one Twitter follower shot back in attempting to console one of the game’s most colourful and controversial characters
Daly replied: “I do sell tickets that’s for sure – so not sure why I wasn’t given a spot?”
Perhaps it’s because he hasn’t always shown enough appreciation for previous sponsors exemptions he has been given.
In 2008, when he was last invited to play at Bay Hill on a sponsor’s exemption, he missed his pro-am tee time and was disqualified from the tournament as a result.
