Ames does it at Disney again

Stephen Ames fired a round-of-the-day 64 and then won a three-way play-off at the second extra hole to win the Children’s Miracle Network Classic in Disney.
Ames won the same event in 2007 and held his nerve to clinch a fourth career PGA Tour title at the Lake Buena Vista course in Florida.
The naturalised Canadian started the day three off the pace set by Justin Leonard, George McNeill, Justin Rose and Mathias Gronberg but was soon into his stride with four birdies in the first seven holes.
He then picked up five shots in the last seven holes after a solitary bogey at the eighth to set the benchmark at 18 under par, which proved one too good for Rose and Aussie Nick O’Hern.
Leonard had a chance to win at the 18th but saw his birdie attempt lip out, sending the final tournament of the season into overtime, with McNeill making it a three-way tie at the top after matching Leonard’s round of 67.
Leonard failed to make par at the first extra hole leaving Ames and McNeill to fight it out, but when the latter missed his putt at the par-three 15th the Trinidad-born Ames holed from three feet to lift the title.
