From Madrid and Barcelona to Lisbon and the Algarve, Spain and Portugal features some of the most luxurious hotels in Europe, and Finca Cortesin Hotel, Golf & Spa has been recognised as the best of them all by readers of the world’s most renowned luxury media title.
The exclusive Andalucian golf and lifestyle resort’s Hotel Cortesin was voted number one in the ‘Top 20 Hotels in Spain & Portugal’ category in Condé Nast Traveler magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards 2019.
The accolade follows a number of other top honours that Finca Cortesin has received so far in 2019, including being voted as the ‘Most Hospitable Golf Club in Spain’ and having the ‘Best Facilities in Spain’ in the respected website Leadingcourses com’s 2019 Golfers’ Choice Awards.
Celebrating the world’s best hotels, resorts, countries, cities, islands, spas, airlines, airports and cruises, the annual Condé Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious in the luxury travel industry and, are commonly known as ‘the best of the best of travel’.
More than 600,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers worldwide submitted a recording-breaking number of responses, rating their travel experiences to provide a full snapshot of where and how people travel today. In its first year as a global brand, the magazine combined the annual surveys in the US and UK into one global Readers’ Choice Awards list.

Opened in March 2006 and set across a vast 532-acre estate, Finca Cortesin – a member of the prestigious European Tour Destinations Network – is regarded among Europe’s most exclusive modern golf and lifestyle destination resorts.
Set in the rolling hills of southern Spain, between Marbella and Sotogrande, with the Mediterranean to one side and the tranquil Casares Mountains to the other, the resort’s 18-hole championship course was designed by Cabell Robinson and has hosted numerous high-profile tournaments – including the Volvo World Match Play Championship in 2009, 2011 and 2012. It is the first venue in Spain to feature a new, eco-friendly variety of Bermuda grass on all its greens.

Close House Golf Club, near Newcastle, will host the British Masters on July 22.
The event was last staged in 2002.
The tournament at Close House, scheduled to start on July 30, is set to be the first European Tour event since the coronavirus crisis halted action.
The world number one believes it would be the ‘right call’ to push the event back to 2021.
The exhibition match, against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady, raised 20 million dollars.
The Dutchman finished third and second in the first two weeks of the home-based competition.
NFL stars Tom Brady and Peyton Manning will also be involved.
