Kuredu Golf Club: A unique golfing experience

Kuredu Golf Club is a one-of-a-kind course.
The Maldives is an archipelago comprised of 1,192 islands scattered into atolls which form unique rings of sandy islands and sapphire lagoons among the coral reefs of the Indian Ocean.
And nestled on the eastern portion of one of those islands, surrounded by palm trees and the gentle swish of the ocean, is a golfing experience like no other.
Kuredu Resort was the first to be developed in Llaviyani Atoll and Mr Lars Petre oversaw the project which he was always keen should include golf.
Naturally the sport is rarely associated with the islands, but Kuredu recognised that guests needed their golf fix and decided to redefine the resort experience in the Maldives.
Established in 2003 the golf club boasts a full-size driving range, a large Huxley green to perfect the putting stroke and a unique six-hole par-three course.
The holes average 55 yards in distance, with the signature third hole being played from an elevated tee box and fully floodlit night golf extremely popular with guests.
Kuredu’s head pro David Tintori, a PGA-qualified golf professional, is available for tuition on all aspects of the game using V1 Golf video analysis to capture, compare and improve your golf swing. Teaching courses can be set up to suit the individual or group.
The environment of the resort is pure relaxation – the perfect background for honing your skills, sharpening your short game, and shaving shots off the scorecard.
And afterwards the club has a sports bar to kick-back in, with a cool drink close at hand and the latest sports news from around the world on the big screen.
Here’s what Lars has to say about the island’s golf club:
What were your first impressions of the site prior to the construction of the course?
“The vegetation on the site was dense jungle which we have kept at the perimeter, with the course and driving range extensively landscaped.”
What goals did you have in mind while creating Kuredu Golf Course?
“We love golf and wanted to create a golf facility in the resort where our clients could enjoy a game and also practice”.
What is your favourite aspect of the project?
“The absolutely charming atmosphere created by our excellent team!”
Island Essentials
Travel – Kuredu Maldives Resort & Spa is located in the Lhaviyani Atoll, 145 kilometres north of the capital city of Male and its international airport. Kuredu has a dedicated lounge at the terminal and the 35-minute seaplane journey to the island on board the Trans Maldivian Airways provides astounding views of one of world’s most distinct seascapes.
Weather and climate – lying close to the Equator, the Maldives receives plenty of sun throughout the year, with the average air temperature being close to 30 degrees, and water temperature constant at around 28 degrees. The Maldives experiences its best weather of the year from March to May, however the tropical climate results in relatively minor variations in daily temperature and a great deal of sunshine all year round.
Accommodation – make your choice! From the tropical seclusion of Garden Bungalows, the ocean-kissed bliss of Beach Bungalows, Beach Villas and Jacuzzi Beach Villas, or the exclusive luxury and comfort of the Water Villas. For a truly hedonistic extravagance, the Private Pool Villas guarantee a comfort zone you’ll never want to leave.
Snorkelling – come eye to eye with the ocean’s most beautiful creatures. The underwater world is what it is all about in the Maldives and it’s our pleasure to show you around our backyard.
Scuba Diving – for beginners and experienced divers alike, the numerous dive sites offer everything from colourful coral reefs, dazzling schools of fish, and up close and personal encounters with sea turtles, reef sharks and, if lucky, Manta rays.
Watersports – With first class instructors and outstanding beach front facilities and equipment, ocean watersports provides a refreshing and adventurous change to the poolside.
Excursions – discover the full beauty of the Maldives with fishing ventures, Atoll cruises or island-hopping boat trips.
Fitness – a gym with a view! Whether it is yoga, stretching and floor work exercise, or weights and cardio, you can enjoy a stunning view over the turquoise waters of Kuredu’s lagoon, out towards the house reef.
The Duniye Spa – experience pure tranquillity. Recharge your energy and rejuvenate your body and mind at either the Land spa (for health and beauty treatments in a tropical setting) or the ‘O’ Spa for over-water indulgence.
