When you click on ‘balls’ on the TaylorMade website it will direct you first towards the 2025 Tour Response ball.

This is a more affordable ball than the TP5 and TP5x but still offers levels of Tour technology at a softer feel.

This is a ball that really works for the average player and there are various reasons for this.

The dimple pattern
This has the most aerodynamic dimple pattern that TaylorMade have put on a Tour Response product. It has the same Tour Flight dimple pattern that is featured on the TP5 product. So it will maximise distance for all levels of golfer though in the comparison charts it naturally sits below the TP5x and TP5.

The SpeedMantle
This is a three-piece ball. The mantle rests between the core and the cover and helps to improve distance and spin. It works by protecting the core that it wraps around and seals the core and stops water from getting into it and causing damage.

The Tour Response has a new SpeedMantle system and this, according to TaylorMade, has the fastest mantle system that they’ve ever used. Again, this is taken from the TP5 ball and encourages more interaction with the clubface to create more speed and more distance.

What else is new?
TaylorMade claim though that the two real big improvements are to do with the core and the cover. Firstly a new Speed Wrapped Core has been taken from years of research into their premium balls.

The material reduces the density of the core which dampens the sound and fosters an overall faster construction for enhanced ball speed and distance. With a compression of 70, Tour Response balls give golfers exceptionally soft feel using Tour-tested materials.

So it decouples feel and distance. Previously, if you wanted to make a ball go faster and longer, you had to increase the compression and make it sound harder or clickier. But here there is no negative to the sound.

Secondly the Tour Response features a 100 per cent cast urethane cover. All the best balls have a urethane cover as it allows a manufacturer to make a softer, more durable coating that offers more spin around the green. This is what TaylorMade are shouting about the most.

What about the Tour Response Stripe?
This was introduced in 2022 and is available for a small increase in price to the non-striped ball. The ClearPath Alignment Stripe was brought in to improve the visibility and alignment on a single line. It is a 22-millimeter band and TaylorMade have now done something very different with it.

Working with leaders in ink and print technologies, TaylorMade have incorporated the first-of-its-kind in golf neon digital ink. By creating pre-mixed inks and adding neon fluorescents they have created more vibrant colors that are easier to see – this range comes in hi-vis yellow, orange, blue, pink and navy.

What do TaylorMade say?
“Tour Response balls have been the leader in their category for years as golfers of all abilities have benefited from their prominent alignment features, soft feel, and overall consistent performance from tee-to-green.

With added performance technologies and design features, and an even brighter, more enhanced 360° ClearPath Alignment stripe, the all-new Tour Response balls unlock another level of performance throughout the bag.”
