The five most popular putter brands on the PGA Tour
The professional tours see a great variation in putters with no single model currently used by more than three players.
However, certain heavyweight brands command more respect on the greens than others.
Here we run down the five most popular brands of putters on the PGA Tour.
5 L.A.B. Golf
A growing number of players are turning to a L.A.B. Golf Putter on the greens with eight professionals having one in their bag.
The L.A.B. Golf MEZZ.1 Max is the most popular model of putter on the PGA Tour with three players using the club.
L.A.B Golf’s stated aim is to show golfers that they’re better putters than they think. “They just need better science on their side.”
4 TaylorMade
There are currently 15 PGA Tour professionals using 13 different models of TaylorMade putters, a great many of which are variations on their super popular Spider Tour putters.
World No.1 Scottie Scheffler uses a TaylorMade Spider Tour X, while Rory McIlroy uses a TaylorMade Spider Tour X3.
Scheffler said of the stick: “This Spider putter is really easy for me to line up.
“I don’t have to use the line on the ball. I line the putter up really well, and I line up in the middle of the face, and pretty much as simple as that. Kind of gives me just a really good visual.”
3 PING
There are 23 PGA Tour players playing 22 different models of PING Putters in their bag at the moment.
All Tour pros who win a tournament with a PING putter get a gold plated copy of their putter and another one gets added to the company’s famous vault.
They have three players using a PING PLD Prototype putter which gives them a tie for the most-used model on the Tour.
2 Titleist
Titleist’s flagship putter brand Scotty Cameron has given them a big share of the market when it comes to top players’ putter of choice.
They make a bewildering array of putters available to professionals including prototypes which are never released to mass market.
Scotty Cameron’s precision-crafted, hand-finished putters are trusted by the game’s top players and are prized for their performance as much as their beauty.
1 Odyssey
No putter brand has the reach when it comes to professionals sported by Callaway’s Odyssey, but they have Toulon Designs to thank for that.
Callaway acquired the emerging brand in 2016 and helped propel them to the head of putter production for the best players in the world.
Sean Toulon has always paid tribute to the established work of Odyssey and Callaway as golf brands and putter makers.
“We are so excited to be joining forces with Callaway and Odyssey,” said Toulon.
“We have been inspired by the innovation of these two great brands over a long period of time. But what might be even more impressive is the engagement these great brands have with golfers.
“We have always believed that a deep connection to the game and to those that love it is the key to creating world-class products and experiences that golfers love.
“We feel like we have found the perfect home and look forward to creating incredible products for passionate golfers for many years to come.”
