Every club in Stephan Jaeger’s bag for his Houston Open victory
Stephan Jaeger’s diverse bag helped him to nab a maiden PGA Tour title in Houston.
PING, Callaway and Titleist all feature in his sets of equipment.
For his driver, Jaeger uses the PING G430 LST which has helped him to rank 24th this season in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee.
His trusted 3-wood is a Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond. He doesn’t have a hybrid in the bag and bridges the gap to his irons with a Ping G425 Max 7-wood.
It is fairly rare for a pro to have a totally uniform set of irons, but Jaeger trusts the Ping S55s from 3-iron to pitching wedge.
Like many professionals, he favours Vokey design wedges from Titleist with three SM10s in his bag.
On the green, he uses the Callaway family Odyssey Ai-One 2-Ball putter.
Jaeger took a lot from being paired with in-form Scottie Scheffler on the weekend in Houston.
“I couldn’t have thought, dreamed up a better week to do it,” Jaeger said Sunday. “Obviously playing (with) Scottie last couple days, he’s been on a tear, so to kind of slay the dragon a little bit this week was amazing. He’s such a good dude, such a good player; I was just happy to play with him a couple days.”
His wife Shelby Jaeger lifted the lid on his emotional state recently after he suffered the passing of his father.
“It was tough, and it made him realise golf wasn’t everything,” Shelby Jaeger said.
“That was the start of him not taking this so seriously … He’s so much more patient … in all aspects of life. He doesn’t always look like it on the golf course because he’s very fast, but he doesn’t get mad if he has a bad round or a bad day. I think he just knew this was coming eventually, and he was so patient, so patient.
“Something switched after (Klaus’ passing), and it was just like, there is so much more to life.”
