Padraig is PRO V1’s 1005th winner

This because Zach Johnson and Angel Cabrera both used the same make of ball in their respective victories in the 2007 Masters and the US Open championships, Titleist have announced
Harrington, playing with Wilson clubs, rallied from being six strokes down at the start of the final round and despite a double-bogey at Carnoustie’s feared and fateful 18th, secured a four-hole-play-off with overnight leader Sergio Garcia which he then went on to win
Harrington’s historic victory topped a worldwide sweep by Titleist golf ball players this week.
Additional victories on the US PGA, LPGA and Nationwide Tours, advanced Titleist’s tally of PRO V1 and PRO V1x winners world wide this year to 113, a tally that is more than seven times greater than their nearest competitor with 15.
It also takes the overall tally of winning PRO V1 users on all professional tours around the world since it’s introduction in October 2001 to 1,009 when Billy Andrade won the Invensys Classic in Las Vegas after firing five consecutive rounds in the 60’s in the first week he put the then new ball into in play.
Last week Japan’s Toru Taniguchi made history by becoming the ball’s 1,000 winner when he captured the Sega Sammy Cup in Japan.
In the same week the ball had also been used by Jonathan Byrd to win the John Deere Classic on the US PGA Tour, by Gregory Havret to win the The Barclays Scottish Open on the European Tour and by EW Eaks to claim his first title on the Champions Tour at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open.
This week, PRO VI winners along with Harrington were Korea’s Seon Hwa Lee (New Pro V1) who won the HSBC Women’s World Match Play title, Joe Ogilvie (new Pro V1) who won the US Bank Championship on the US PGA Tour and Tom Scherrer (New Pro V1x),who fired a final round 5-under 65 to top the final leaderboard at the Price Cutter Charity Championship.
Vijay Singh, the only man ever to have ousted Tiger Woods as World No 1, leads the overwhelming domination of professional golf by Titleist balls.
Using various versions of the PRO V1, the Fijian star as captured 46 titles worldwide, 22 of them on the US PGA Tour
The total numbers of PRO V1 victories by Tour breakdown since its launch in October is as follows: US PGA Tour (197), European Tour (164), Nationwide Tour (147), Champions Tour (137), LPGA Tour (100), Others* (260).
