NEW TECHNOLOGY IS RIFE

More and more it is being said that putting is an art, not a science, but no one is arguing against the fact that technology greatly enhances it.
More and more it is being said that putting is an art, not a science, but no one is arguing against the fact that technology can greatly enhances it.
And least of all Justin Rose who has been using one of designer Guerin Rife’s high-tech Rife putters during his rise to prominence as the No 1 golfer in Europe and World No 6.
Rose is currently using the Rife Barbados from the club-maker’s Island Series, but don’t be surprised if he switches soon to the Rife Two-Bar hybrid putter, their latest contribution to the art of putting.
The Two-bar hybrid putter is claimed to provide the putting artist with the best putting ‘brush’ ever to come out of the Rife stable.
Besides it’s already renowned “RollGrove milled face which reduces skidding a puts a better roll on te ball, and the LieAline custom fitting system which teaches users to set themselves up correctly, the secret of the Two Bar Hybrid lies in its 4-point adjustable weighting system.
Adjustable weighting allows players to apply different weight configurations to match the speed of the greens.
The stainless steel weight inserts in the heel and toe also help to improve stability and accuracy from off-centre hits, say the makers.
Explaining how the LieAline works a company spokesman said:”Using a subtle vertical notch located on the back edge of the top line of the putter, you can automatically tell whether the putter is set-up to suit your putting stroke
“If you can see the entire white sight line, then the putter is set-up perfectly, if not then you use the LieAline Bending tool to bend the hosel into the ideal position that best suits you.
“Once this has been done you can benefit from a more consistent and repeatable stroke path every time by using the sight line,” says Rife.
All this technology enhances putting feel and gives greater confidence, but at the end of the day it is still the artistry of the player using it that makes the difference between a good and a bad putt.
The Rife Two Bar Hybrid is available at £129 with 34 and 35-inch shaft options for right-handers. A left-handed model will follow soon.
