Masters game out soon

The good old boys of Augusta National have had a change of heart about golf video games – and gamers will be over the moon because of it.

Soon to be released and expected to generate record sales for EA Sports, thanks to Augusta agreeing to participate for the first time ever in its development, is the US gaming company’s latest offering, “Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2012: The Masters”

Gamers can’t wait to enjoy a previously unavailable experience on one of the most beautiful and exclusive golf courses in the world.

EA Sports says that through painstaking research and time spent on the property using laser-scanning devices they have logged more than 200,000 hours on the project and as a result the game will incorporate the smallest details, including elevation changes, bumps, swales, trees, and subtle breaks on the course’s tricky-to-read greens.

The game, which will hit US stores a week before the Masters tees off, will be available on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii consoles, and will retail for $69.99.

From the proceeds of the game, Augusta National has created a Masters Tournament Foundation pledged to help develop golf worldwide.

Very few people ever get past the gates of Augusta National which zealously guards its privacy and exclusivity and fewer still actually get a chance to play the course.

You need to be a member – or at least a close friend or an important business associate of one of its many millionaire members to get that opportunity so playing ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2012: The Masters’ should be a very special experience.
