Unveiled: Top 7 longest drivers on the PGA Tour in 2025 – and the clubs powering the big-hitters

The PGA Tour is providing driving distances off the tee that we’ve seldom seen before, with several big hitters dominating.

We’re well into the 2025 PGA Tour season, and many events have favoured booming drivers off the ball in an attempt to shorten the golf courses.

Now the season is at a stage where the field has established its driver of choice after trial and error early in the campaign to maximise their capabilities at the tee box.

So, who’s dominated distance off the tee in the 2025 PGA Tour season through the Charles Schwab Challenge last weekend?

Let’s take a closer look at the PGA Tour’s 7 longest hitters…

7. Michael Thorbjornsen – 305.7 yards

Thorbjornsen couples his smooth, rhythmic swing with explosive lower-body action to generate his elite distance off the tee.

His TaylorMade Qi10 LS is built for low spin and high ball speed to maximise distance, ideal for someone like him who compresses the ball hard.

The raw power was evident in his T2 finish at the Corales Puntacana Championship, where he cut doglegs and left regular wedge approach shots off the tee, flipping scoring chances his way.

6. Jesper Svensson – 306.2 yards

The Swede maximises his leverage with a powerful torso rotation to create serious speed through impact courtesy of his Cobra LTDx LS driver.

It’s engineered for players who launch it high with minimal spin, making it perfectly suited to Svensson’s game, which features a low spin profile and a red-hot club face.

5. Rasmus Højgaard – 306.4 yards

The Danish star blends youthful explosiveness with temperament and generates consistently high ball speeds as he booms balls up the fairway.

His Callaway Paradym AI Smoke Triple Diamond driver provides his naturally aggressive game with forgiveness, with the AI-generated sweet spot helping him find the middle even when swinging flat out.

He plays with calculated aggression and managed a T2 finish at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the sole PGA Tour team event that he relishes playing with his twin brother.

4. Chris Gotterup – 307 yards

Gotterup is still making a name for himself on the PGA Tour, but there’s one thing for sure…

He hits bombs with his PING G440 driver.

With a powerful frame and a fearless attitude, he uses his big stick’s mix of stability and explosiveness to swing hard without compromising accuracy.

The G440’s high MOI design is tailor-made for his fast and furious golf swing.

3. Rory McIlroy – 308.4 yards

Even in his mid-30s, McIlroy is still one of the most devastating drivers of a golf ball on the PGA Tour with an unmatched combination of tempo, balance and athleticism.

Despite trialling the TaylorMade Qi35, he’s stuck with the TaylorMade Qi10 driver and its natural feel with speed-boosting tech – even on off-centre contacts.

He became just the sixth man to complete the Career Grand Slam with a maiden Masters win at Augusta National, with his long-hitting making the famous course shorter as he dominated strokes gained off the tee.

2. Niklas Nørgaard – 308.8 yards

Nørgaard’s powerful backswing and rapid action produce a penetrating drive that cuts through the air with vengeance.

His driver of choice, the Titleist TSR3, is known for its adjustability and stability, allowing the Dane to fine-tune his flight for both power and precision.

It’s a specific setup, designed to enhance his angle of attack and spin rates, converting his elite mechanics into pure distance.

1. Aldrich Potgieter – 312 yards

The simply brutal-hitting young South African is making waves on the PGA Tour with his ability to shorten each course at will, a much sought-after asset.

His choice of driver has always been inevitable, the Titleist GT3, the manufacturer’s most aggressive low-spin driver to date, which is just built for his game.

He has shot a 59 before at the Astara Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour and has two top 10 finishes this season on the PGA Tour, where he’s topped the driving charts by a distance.
