How to be as cool as Thomas Detry – the PGA Tour’s newest star

Thomas Detry is one of the coolest golfers in the game, with a welcome mix of a beautiful swing, good looks and a great dress sense.

And he is now a winner on the PGA Tour after his seven-shot romp at the Phoenix Open earlier this month, a result which moved him into the top 25 of the world rankings.

The 32-year-old was already in the field for The Masters, courtesy of his fourth place at last year’s PGA Championship, and he is now in the automatic spots for the Ryder Cup.

In terms of his style the Belgian relies on Boss for his clothing and G/FORE for his shoes and gloves.

G/FORE was founded in 2011 in Los Angeles and the brand is known for its stylish and modern take on golf apparel, footwear, and accessories, often featuring bold colours and premium materials.

In 2018 G/FORE was acquired by Peter Millar, a high-end golf and lifestyle apparel company based in North Carolina.

Detry has been with the brand since he turned pro in 2016 and he immediately turned a few heads in a sport which isn’t the quickest to try something a bit different.

“You have no idea how many fans and even other professionals come up to me and talk about my shoes and tell me how cool they are. Everybody wants to order them,” Detry said in his early days on tour.

“I’ve always liked their stuff. It’s stylish but it’s sober and classy as well and I really like that. It fits me perfectly and I’m really happy to be part of the G/FORE family.

“The coloured gloves are amazing too. The colours are pretty cool to match them with what you’re wearing but the leather is just fantastic quality.”

Fast forward to 2025 and Detry remains with the brand which offers a quality addition to the usual and often same sights on tour.
