FJ Quantum: “Most comfortable shoe, not just golf shoe, I have ever worn.”
It’s not often that a caddie’s golf shoe gets much of a mention but who better to ask than someone who is on their feet on a golf course for hour upon hour every day.
Alex Evans is a PGA Professional and is the caddie for Paul Waring who won in Abu Dhabi last week.
Waring secured not only the biggest win of his career at the age of 39 but also pretty much guaranteed a card for the PGA Tour next season having held off a host of names at Yas Links.
And Evans is the first player/caddie on any of the main tours to sport the new FJ Quantum shoe having received a pair just before their launch earlier this year.
“I’ve worn FJ Quantum for the majority of this season and they are the most comfortable shoe, not just golf shoe but the most comfortable shoe overall I have ever worn,” said Evans.
“When walking over 10km per day on the golf course it’s really important for me to feel comfortable when I’m working and that is exactly what the FJ Quantum gives me.”
FootJoy describe the Quantum as having ‘cloud like comfort’ and this comes from incorporating their softest ever foam in the midsole. This is something called SofFOAM and provides maximum cushioning for all-day walking comfort.
An added layer of comfort comes from the Ortholite EcoPlush Fit-Bed, all of which means that the underfoot cushioning stays the same for the life of the shoe.
So when you step foot in the shoes they feel like new. Otherwise there are other neat extras like the rollover collar construction for out-the-box comfort and easy access for the heel.
These are a great option for when you want to give your feet a bit of a rest or you are hitting a lot of balls but they are a quality golf shoe in their own right, using inspiration from the traction technologies featured in the Pro/SLX and HyperFlex.
Waring himself was wearing the FootJoy Premiere Series Field which is up there among the most popular shoes in the UK.
“I switched over to the Premiere Series Field this season as I really loved the classic style but what surprised me the most was how much stability the shoe provides,” said the now two-time winner on the DP World Tour.
“They really give me the best of both worlds, I can’t fault them. The lace pattern on the Field makes the fit perfect for me which adds to the performance and comfort levels.”
