At the start of 2025 Ping will release a new G440 driver range. The details have yet to be confirmed but this is what we know so far.

When did Ping last bring out a new driver out?

In 2023 Ping released the G430 range with the G430 MAX which targets forgiveness, the G430 LST which helps bring down spin and the G430 SFT to help those golfers who slice. At the start of 2024 Ping also brought out their most forgiving driver to date, the G430 MAX 10K, with a combined MOI that exceeds 10,000 g-cm2. This is a blend of the LST and Max models.

What’s in the new range?

So far three drivers have been added to the USGA’s conforming driver clubhead list – the Ping G440 MAX (9, 10.5 and 12˚), the G440 LST (9 and 10.5˚) and the G440 SFT (9 and 10.5˚). So it seems that Ping have added a like-for-like collection of drivers with a new G440 MAX 10K set to be added.

What is the Ping G440 MAX?

The MAX has a three-position rear weight port with draw and fade settings as well as a central one. With the weight in the back there will be plenty of stability and forgiveness and there is an adjustable hosel mechanism to increase or decrease the loft as well as making the lie angle flatter. This will be the most popular choice with punters and, with three loft options, it will be the best to get really dialled in.

This features a carbon crown, like the MAX 10k model, that Ping have brought out in recent years. This has been in the low-spinning models and it means that the crown can literally wrap into the toe and heel section which reduces weight in the middle of the club which is a key component of the modern-day driver.

What is the Ping G440 LST?

This stands for low spin tech which will appeal to the better player and is the one most likely to be seen out on Tour. But this does also include a tungsten weight with a draw and a fade bias. Similarly it features the carbon fly wrap, adjustable hosel mechanism and forged titanium face which is what Ping have always done. Chilean Joaquin Niemann had this in the bag when he won on the Asian Tour recently.

What is the Ping G440 SFT?

This stands for straight flight technology. The most common fault with the driver is the slice and this features a draw bias as well as a draw plus one. It features the same face, hosel options and carbon crown.

What is ‘spinsistency’?

This was in the G425 fairway woods and hybrids before being added to the G430 driver. The definition of this is ‘a variable roll radius creates less loft low on the face to improve performance by reducing spin, resulting in faster speeds that generate consistently longer drives.’ Which means that, wherever you hit it on the face, there are more consistent spin rates even on mishits.
