What are the 10 most Instagrammable golf courses in the United States?
In the social media age, a picture-perfect golf course matters almost as much as the quality of the greens.
A new study by indoor golf experts IndoorGolfGuide has uncovered the 10 most Instagrammable golf courses in the US, based on the number of Instagram tagged posts that mention each course.
It is perhaps no surprise that number one is Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia – the fabled home of the Masters Tournament. It tops the rankings with 123,399 tagged Instagram posts.
The meticulously manicured and undulating fairways, plus the vibrant azaleas and dogwoods in spring, not to mention iconic landmarks like Amen Corner, make it a photographer’s paradise.
This captivating beauty, combined with its golfing legacy, solidifies Augusta’s position as the most instagrammable golf course in the US.
It is perhaps a little surprising that TPC Sawgrass, home of The Players Championship, comes in at second with 59,528 tagged Instagram posts.
The Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida Stadium Course is famous for the island green on the 17th hole but it is another layout with beautiful woodland.
Third place is won by Bandon Dunes (41,685 tags) on the rugged Oregon coast – a links-like course that is as dramatic as the best Ireland and Scotland has to offer,
Riviera Country Club is fourth (37,524), the L.A. course with a superb backdrop of Pacific Palisades and the Santa Monica Mountains, and another west coast track is in fifth – the California Golf Club of San Francisco (37,006) with its cypress-lined fairways.
Experienced golfers might be wondering about an omission from the list at this point?
Where is Pebble Beach Golf Links?!
It’s ranked at a surprising eighth – but you’d think that with holes clinging to the coastline of America, with that sensational backdrop of the Pacific Ocean, it would be higher.
Jehan Wadia, CEO of IndoorGolfGuide said on the findings: “Golf courses today are as much about the experience as they are about the game, and in the age of social media, aesthetics play a huge role.
“The breathtaking views and iconic landmarks at courses like Augusta National and TPC Sawgrass make them perfect for Instagram-worthy moments.
“It’s no surprise that six of the top ten courses are open to the public, as golfers want not only to play a challenging round but also to capture the beauty of the course and share it with others.”
