TPC Sawgrass’ Stadium Course increases already eye-watering fees
TPC Sawgrass’ Stadium Course is on numerous golfers’ bucket lists – and it seems the club is well aware of that fact and fully intends to cash in.
The venue has a rich history and has been lauded time and again by critics and independent reviewers.
The Club is also part of the acclaimed TPC Network of the PGA Tour, which includes sister golf courses such as TPC Scottsdale, host of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, and TPC Southwind, host of the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.
TPC Sawgrass doesn’t rank as the most expensive round in golf, as the Shadow Creek Club in Las Vegas recently raised its highest price up to $1,250.
Sawgrass has opted to introduce a bump of their own, which has raised more than a few eyebrows.
It will now cost you $900 for a peak season morning tee-off at Sawgrass up from $840 at the same time in the current season.
These prices cover your green fee, cart charge, base rate for your forecaddie and a bag of balls at the practice range. However, they do not include the suggested $40 tip for your forecaddie.
If you would rather walk the Stadium Course—possibly in an effort to get more for your money by taking in the scenery for as long as possible—you can upgrade to a walking caddie for an extra $125 per person, or $85 per bag if you wish to stuff as many bags as possible onto your caddie. If you decide to leave a gratuity, the course suggests $50 per bag as a base tip.
However, if you truly want to maximise your life-long dream trip, you may want to think about the most expensive choice available: the Tour Player Experience. A two-night stay at the Sawgrass Marriott, one round each on the Stadium and Valley courses, a walking caddy, access to player locker rooms, dinners, and other take-home Sawgrass delights are all included for $2,554 per person.
On the other end of the scale, it’s just $650 to play at the site of the largest individual purse in tournament golf during the busiest months of September through May, but they are notorious for selling out extremely fast. Other than that, costs could differ between the two based on the day and month you choose to go out.
The lowest-priced tee time at TPC Sawgrass’ Stadium Course starts at $450, but that deal is only available from May to August when the weather in northern Florida can make playing golf quite difficult or at least very uncomfortable.
The course will remain closed until 5 November 2023. Prior to The Players Championship, it will also close for approximately one month. The course closes on 19 February 2024 and reopens one month later, following the conclusion of the PGA Tour’s flagship event.
