Evans makes his mark as Clubs To Hire’s 500,000th customer
Kilmarnock golfer Mark Evans was amazed when he arrived at the Clubs to Hire shop in Faro Airport to be told he was the company’s 500,000th customer.
To celebrate the milestone, Evans has been gifted free club hire for a year at any of Clubs to Hire’s 27 outlets worldwide, plus he can enjoy a complimentary fourball at five of Europe’s best golf venues: Club de Golf Alcanada and Son Gual, in Mallorca; Quinta do Lago and Onyria Palmares Beach & Golf Resort, in Portugal’s Algarve; and Quinta da Marinha Resort, near Lisbon – giving him free golf and product to the value of more than €1,500.
Upon arriving at the Clubs to Hire store in Faro airport, Evans was warmly welcomed by store manager Kevin Ludkin, who had been pre-warned by the company’s head office that the 39-year-old chartered surveyor had secured the 500,000th rental set taken since its launch in 2010.
A delighted Evans said: “I’m extremely surprised and shocked to win this prize. I am down golfing with a group of 13 lads who have all hired their clubs and we will celebrate this prize in fine style.
“Renting our clubs with Clubs to Hire is so straight-forward and removes all the hassle of lugging your own set on the trip.”
Clubs to Hire co-founder Tony Judge added: “It was great to see the look of incredulity on Mark’s face when he realised what was happening. And we were delighted to be able to commemorate the occasion in such a manner, especially as it comes very close to the eighth anniversary of the business.
“We are very proud of the product and service we offer and were gratified to hear the regard in which we are held by Mark and his friends.
“We need to say a big thank you to the five fabulous golf courses who added to the event with their generosity – and, of course, a big thank you to all of our customers over the last eight years.”
Clubs to Hire handles more than 300,000 annual visits to its website for rental clubs at 27 locations worldwide, including popular golfing regions in the USA, Thailand, Australia, South Africa and five countries across the Mediterranean, offering the latest clubs on the market – for men and women, left- or right-handed – from just €35 per week, a potential saving of up to €85, with none of the hassle.
