Golfers crave consistency and few could argue with the steadiness of Kim's results in the PGA Championship as in the last three years he has finished 50th, 55th and 51st. Reliable, but not in the way he will want of course! If his event form is modest, his latest form figures are excellent. His last four starts have seen him win in Houston, finish third in the Masters, 16th in Korea and seventh at the Quail Hollow Championship. Fine stuff but it all happened nearly three months ago. An operation to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb has caused havoc in his schedule just as it seemed he had rediscovered his focus. The end of 2009 had seen him descend into mediocre form with suggestions that he was returning to his partying ways. His form on returning from recuperation is going to be a mystery, but he loved his Ryder Cup debut in 2008 and is desperate to guarantee his place this year.
