Three years ago at Augusta, Goosen led the field as he prepared to hit his tee shot on the short par-three 12th during the final round. When he found the green the tournament looked his to win. He promptly three-putted for bogey and, as his challenge withered, Zach Johnson stepped forward to claim the Green Jacket. He finished in a tie for second - his fourth top three finish in six Masters - but it was still a huge letdown. A formidable major performer before then, he has struggled since with his only top ten coming at last year's Open Championship (when he was never really in contention). He has rediscovered his consistency in the last nine months but has struggled to win: he has 14 top ten finishes in his last 22 starts without lifting a trophy. He loves super-fast greens so should remain suited to Augusta but there is a suspicion that although he was once the most unflappable golfer in the world, he is now a slightly hesitant and wary one.
