When the going got tough last year, Immelman got going, taking the joint lead on day one and increasing that advantage by one shot with every round thereafter to became the first wire-to-wire winner at Augusta since Raymond Floyd in 1976. His last round 75 seems poor in comparison with previous winners but it was shot in windy conditions that caused chaos elsewhere in the field. It was a magnificent effort by the 29-year-old South African who just four months earlier had a tennis ball-sized benign tumour removed from his rib-cage. His 2009 season has been something of a disappointment so far but he was third entering the final round of last month's Transitions Championships before shooting a 75 that wasn't good enough to win! Has admitted that he is still coming to terms with the change in lifestyle that comes with being a major winner so may struggle with the added attention this week.
