The amiable South African's last ten years of golf at Augusta splits neatly into two five year cycles. From 2000 to 2004 he never finished outside the top six and was twice runner-up. Then from 2005 to 2009 he never made the top ten and rarely threatened to make a mark. This year has seen a renaissance in form allowing him to claim back-to-back wins in Florida at the WGC-CA Championship and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Crucially his putting, a huge Achilles heel for the last two years, has improved significantly and it will need to remain impregnable on the slick greens of Augusta National. After the win at Bay Hill he said: "I know the history of Augusta pretty well, and there's been a lot of nice stories. There's been a lot of cool ones, thinking of Weiskopf and Norman and myself, but there's also been some really great ones, so I'm still hoping for the great one." If he did win there would be no more popular arms slipping into the green jacket.
