Tiger Woods will start as favourite at Augusta - nothing new there then. But so much has changed in the world number one's life in the last four months that a win at The Masters this year would surely rank as his most famous major triumph yet - even taking into account his victory at the 2008 US Open on one leg. Woods' infidelity scandal rocked the golfing world like no event in recent memory and, when he made his televised public apology in February, it seemed highly unlikely he would even be at Augusta to compete this time around so fragile and troubled did he appear. But the world number one will be there, opting to make his eagerly-anticipated comeback at the season's first major. After such a long time away from competitive action and with all the off-course distractions that he has had to deal with, surely Woods can't return with a win... can he? Well the bookmakers still think so and those that have watched him practice in recent weeks certainly believe he can, all the reports suggest he is hitting the ball as well as, if not better than he ever has. It would be the most remarkable of stories but, with Woods involved, perhaps not the most surprising. The American's record at Augusta is such that he will rightly still be regarded as the man to beat, but the question will be how he responds back on the course after such a seismic shift in his existence off it.
