Player details
Name Henrik Stenson
DOB April 05, 1976
Nationality Swedish
Birthplace Gothenburg, Sweden
Height 6ft 1
Weight 198lbs
The Swede has developed into one of the most consistent performers not only in European, but world golf in recent seasons. He proved he can win big by claiming his first World Golf Championship event in 2007 and significantly it came at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. He underlined his strength in the match play format by reaching the final four of the same tournament this year before losing out in an enthralling encounter with Tiger Woods. That kind of form has seen Stenson establish himself as a member of the world's top ten and he made a confident Ryder Cup debut at the K Club in 2006. Having teamed up with David Howell to secure a half-point in the Friday foursomes, he had the honour of holing the winning putt as he beat Vaughan Taylor 4&3 in the singles on the Sunday. That performance ensures his win record stands at a healthy 0.50 and he has an even more impressive record in the Seve Trophy where he remained unbeaten in his one and only appearance in 2005, taking four points from his five matches. The Swede heads to Valhalla with his game seemingly in excellent shape coming off a third-place finish at the Open Championship and a fourth at last month's USPGA Championship. A formidable match play opponent with a temperament to match, Europe will be expecting a big showing from the ice-cool Swede in Kentucky.
