Last month, ahead of the Open Championship at St Andrews, the Korean known as "The Tank" prepared himself as thoroughly as he could. He dug huge holes on the range banging balls into the fiercest of the wind and was unstinting in the practice bunkers - never giving himself anything other than brutal lies. But there is a suspicion that he "over-thought" the whole process and nothing screamed that more than his decision to utilise a new, radical putting stroke. He missed the cut, ditched the new putting stroke and led after three rounds in the Scandinavian Masters the following week. Three errant shots found water in the final round which halted his charge for victory, but don't overlook the tough one-time weightlifter. He has finished sixth, seventh and 12th in the PGA Championship and is hungry to join his compatriot YE Yang as a major winner.
