Woods to play at Sedgefield
Tiger Woods has confirmed that he will take up his place in the field for this week’s Wyndham Championship.
After failing to make the cut at the PGA Championship, Woods’ chances of qualifying for the upcoming FedEx Cup play-offs are all but over, and so the Wyndham Championship is likely to mark the end of his regular season.
However, the former world number one has not given up his hopes of moving into the top 125 on the FedEx Cup points list – he is currently sitting at 187 – and securing qualification for the play-offs, which begin next week with The Barclays.
It will be Woods’ first appearance at the Greensboro event.
“We discussed it in detail over the weekend. It was not appropriate to confirm during the PGA Championship,” Mark Steinberg told ESPN.
“Tiger has heard great things about the event and is looking forward to the week,” Woods’ agent.”
