Poulter chasing Na at Colonial

Kevin Na leads Ian Poulter by two shots after the second round of the Crowne Plaza Invitational in Texas.

Na began his round with five consecutive pars before breaking that streak with a birdie on the sixth.

With the rest of his front nine consisting of pars, Na began to find his stride on the 10th as he hit another birdie and followed that up with two more on the 13th and 14th, which came courtesy of a 30-foot putt.

Na sunk his fifth birdie of the round on the 17th, but, just like his first round, finished on a low as he carded a bogey on the 18th for a 10 under par total.

Sitting two strokes behind Na is Englishman Ian Poulter, who hit a second-round 67.

It was a mixed day for the Englishman, who made six solid birdies, but also added three bogeys. Nevertheless, he’s right at the top of the leaderboard and in with a real shot.

Not too long ago, Poulter was voted as the most overrated player on the PGA Tour by his fellow pros, sharing the dubious distinction with Rickie Fowler.

Fowler went on to stick it to his detractors and the win the Players Championship that very same week, and now Poulter has a chance to do the same.

“He’s taken care of his business,” Poulter said of Fowler. “It’s time for me to take care of mine.”

Not that ‘overrated’ tag bothered him too much in the first place. With nearly 2 million followers on Twitter, he’s learned opinions are a dime a dozen.

“Do you think I pay a lot of attention to what people think?” he said. “1.89 million people? I mean, seriously. Come on, it’s water off a duck’s back. It’s actually become quite funny, to be honest, so I take it a little bit tongue-in-cheek.”

American Boo Weekley lies a shot behind Poulter in third, while George McNeill and Brian Harman follow on six under.

It was not a good day for Masters champ Jordan Spieth, who could only follow up his opening 64 with a 73, though he still lies just four back heading into the weekend.
